Amsterdam
From its canals to world-famous museums and historical sights, Amsterdam is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. Amsterdam is a city of tolerance and diversity. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, entertainment, international restaurants, good transport - but is relatively small, quiet, and largely thanks to its canals, has a little road traffic. In Amsterdam your destination is never far away.
Amsterdam offers a diverse range of world-class entertainment, as for centuries it has been one of the leading centres of culture in Europe. A variety of performances are staged in hundreds of venues throughout the city. There is also plenty of low-cost entertainment from the multitude of street performers and live bands in bars and cafes.

Noord-Holland
Our region offers everything that makes Holland typically Dutch. Consequently our slogan is 'This is Holland'! We offer fishing villages such as; Volendam and Marken, old towns like Edam and Monnickendam, with cheese, wooden shoes, windmills, tulips, polders, harbours, and old fishing sailboats. In Volendam and in Marken you can still see people wearing traditional dress every day. There is fantastic walking, cycling, and canoeing here.
The Waterland Ticket offered by the Arriva bus company provides the opportunity to visit all these delights by bus: not only famous Volendam and Marken, but also beautiful places inland, such as Edam, Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam and the Beemster (a World Heritage site!). And don't forget the market and shopping city of Purmerend.
On Wednesdays in July and August the cheese market is held in Edam, complete with the Cheese Orchestra, horses and carts, and cheese barges. You will find hotels as well as campgrounds here, and it is also possible to sleep at a farm. We will be happy to mail you the information.

The Hague: Royal city by the sea
The Royal city of The Hague, city of art and culture, beautiful beaches and parks, and benefiting from a wide range of attractions, is located at a little more than half an hour's drive from Amsterdam. A visit to The Hague and its two sea-side resorts of Scheveningen and Kijkduin is certainly worth making throughout the year. The Hague offers a huge diversity of amenities and museums. Why not visit the smallest city in the country, miniature city Madurodam? For contemporary art you can visit the Gemeentemuseum and learn about the world of optical illusion at Escher In The Palace on the majestic Lange Voorhout. IMAX films can be experienced in Omniversum, the Netherlands' largest painting can be admired in Panorama Mesdag, and on the Scheveningse boulevard you will find the Museum 'Beelden aan Zee' Sculptures by the sea which is well worth a visit. Younger visitors will enjoy discovering the underwater world at Sea Life in Scheveningen or a day of fun at Duinrell amusement park.
Shopping in The Hague is a top retail experience; in the Hofkwartier, the posh Passage, the stately Noordeinde or at the lively Denneweg in Buurtschap 2005. Think haute-couture, fashion, living & lifestyle, but also books, arts and antiques. In addition to shopping, there are cheerful little neighbourhoods which are the venue to enjoy a typical Hague cup of coffee or a delicious lunch.

Rotterdam: a young and energetic city with guts
Rotterdam is a true metropolis. Even from a distance, the impressive skyline, which gives the city its great appearance, is visible. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Rotterdam has been internationally renowned for its progressive architecture. It is no surprise then that the city was renamed the 'City of Architecture' in 2007. Rotterdam 2007 City of Architecture is a large-scale public event where exhibitions and special events surrounding unique buildings and locations will take place over the course of one year. One of those events is Sites & Stories, an audio tour of the highlights from one hundred years of modern architecture. Forty buildings in the centre, representing these ten decades, will become the centre of attention in a special way.
